~ a Fair Trade marketplace
that provides a colorful shop in Downtown Waukesha for small farmers and artisans from over thirty economically developing countries around the globe. Many of our products come from women's cooperatives, ensuring safe working conditions and a just wage, so that the women can provide food, health care, and education for their families. These artisans, in turn, provide our shop with unique items, such as fair trade coffee, tea, chocolate, and jewelry, baskets, pottery, clothing, and many other beautiful works of art, handmade out of environmentally sustainable materials. Started in 1990, Plowshare Gifts was the first store-front, Fair Trade gift shop in Wisconsin!
~ an extensive Educational Outreach Program
through which we offer to the community free forums, speakers, book discussions, film festivals and other events, including a weekly vigil for nonviolence. In all of our work, we want to build hope and the skills for creating a culture of peace within ourselves, in our community, and in the wider world.
